Shine His Light Correctly

For a period of time in America, I would say our cultural norms and standards of morality aligned, in many ways, to the Christian church. But as time would have it, morality would soon prove that it is not what saves us and when left to the human heart, standards of morality have and will continue to change- and not for the betterment.

I prayed with a heavy heart this morning for our nation, and the continuing decline that surrounds us all. It should grieve the heart of the Christian. My simple prayer this morning was and will be, “Help me to shine Your light, Oh God, correctly.”

There are many “flashy” things seeking to capture our attention but the light of the Christian is and should be different- a light on a hill, not easily hidden. We should be holy, set apart. Heaven forbid us ever act superior. Holy does not equate perfect for the believer- only Jesus can be that for us, and may we remember that God’s grace is what saved us and changed us and continues to change us.

While we were still sinners Christ died for us- He loved us while not approving of our sin! Such a humbling reminder for me this morning as I seek to shine the light of Jesus to a world who so desperately needs Him!
